Neon tubes are the past and should definitely be replaced with LED ones. This is a choice that meets a double need: that of having energy-saving light sources to lower electricity consumption and therefore the costs of the bill and that of making the lighting of environments increasingly green and therefore sustainable.
The LED light tubes are designed to replace the old neon tubes exactly, without changing the supporting structures and therefore without going to replace them. Plus they have advantages. Aside from their much longer lifespan, their "life" is estimated to last three times longer than that of their predecessors, LED tubes diffuse higher quality light and disperse less energy in the form of heat. Another plus? Many models can be used safely both indoors and outdoors and are much less susceptible to breakage.
Another substantial difference between the two technologies consists precisely in their way of functioning. If the former (consisting of a sealed glass tube inside which mercury and noble gas are present) need a reactor and a starter for their ignition and need some time before they are fully operational, the second ones, usually in plastic and without harmful substances inside them, light up immediately.
Finally, the choice of an LED tube allows to reduce, if not even cancel, the maintenance costs , practically absent with the new technology.
