Ceiling TV mounts: when there is no wall or none is needed

A ceiling mount is not a fallback: it is the right solution whenever there is no wall where the screen is needed. A bar counter, a gym aisle, a central showroom island, a window facing the street, a hospital ward. It also solves the opposite case, the domestic one: a room where the sofa is in the center and the walls are all occupied by windows or furniture. In addition, it keeps the television high up and out of reach, which in a public establishment is a sufficient reason in itself.

Selection table

Situation Mount
Small screen up high: kitchen, ward, waiting room Swivel 19-43 inch, 20 kg load capacity
High ceiling, needs height adjustment Adjustable telescopic, 23-42, 32-55 and 37-70 inch ranges
Two screens back-to-back, visible from two sides Double mount 32-60 inch
The screen is out of reach but needs orientation changes Motorized 23-55, 32-75 or 32-80 inch, remote control and Wi-Fi

The critical point is the anchoring, not the mount

On a wall, the weight works partly in shear; on the ceiling, everything works in tension on the fastener, and every oscillation of the screen is discharged there. This changes the rules: the mount must be anchored to the load-bearing slab, never to a plasterboard false ceiling panel and never to mineral fiber panels. If there is a false ceiling, you must go through it with threaded rods to the structure above, or use an anchoring system provided by the manufacturer of the false ceiling itself.

The second thing to calculate beforehand is how far down it must hang. Telescopic models cover different ranges precisely because the useful height changes from room to room: measure from the ceiling to the point where you want the center of the screen and verify that it falls within the range before ordering.

Expert advice. In a public establishment, a ceiling screen is necessarily up high, so downward tilt is not optional: without it, anyone standing below looks at the panel askew and sees reflections and washed-out colors. Verify that the model tilts at least 10-15°. Second point, the one that makes installations go backward: run power and signal lines first, into the false ceiling or conduit, because once it's fixed, nothing can be passed through. And for models with anti-theft security screws, do not throw away the included key: without it, you'll need a drill to remove the screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mount it on a plasterboard false ceiling?

Not on the sheet itself. It must be anchored to the slab above, passing through the false ceiling with threaded rods, or to a metal structure dimensioned for this purpose. A television hanging from plugs in plasterboard is a risk that makes no sense to take.

How far should it hang from the ceiling?

Measure from the ceiling to the height where you want the center of the screen and compare it with the declared telescopic range. In public establishments, the center is generally between 180 and 220 cm from the floor, higher than at home, precisely to keep the screen out of reach.

Is it also needed for video projectors?

No, projectors have dedicated brackets with adjustable arms for the bottom hole spacing and a range designed for the projection distance. You can find them among the video projector mounts.

Is the double mount for two screens side by side?

It holds them back-to-back to be seen from two opposite sides: this is the typical configuration for bars and waiting rooms. For multiple screens side by side on the same plane, you need VideoWall brackets, which have micrometric adjustment for alignment.

What are anti-theft screws for?

To prevent the screen from being unhooked without the dedicated tool. In gyms, bars, and public spaces, they are the reason many choose the ceiling instead of the wall: the screen is high up, anchored, and cannot be detached by hand.
