Here comes the new digital terrestrial, stay tuned

It's a continuous race towards high definition with the bar always rising, hence the need to keep up with the times with the technology we have at home.

The countdown is indeed underway and will run inexorably until September 1, 2021, when the new digital terrestrial television will become a reality and the transition will begin, becoming definitive in July 2022. By that date, it will be necessary to be ready with TVs that are compatible with the new standards, or by equipping oneself with decoders that allow continued use as before.

Are you wondering what exactly this change entails? Initially, there will be a transition from MPEG2 to MPEG4 encoding, many channels will change frequency and therefore a rescan will be necessary, and finally, there will be a transition to DVB-t2 and the HEVC protocol.

It seems like a foreseen tragedy, but there is good news, and it's called TV Bonus: it's worth up to 50 euros and thanks to it, it will be possible to purchase the decoder that will allow support for the new standard.

At our store in via Piave, decoders are already available that will allow you to "survive" the transition in the best way, and the TV Bonus is, of course, valid. The bonus is reserved for families with an ISEE income of less than 20,000 euros, and to apply, you must download and fill out the form on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development at this address.

You just need to bring the form to the store, and we'll take care of the rest. The bonus will be valid until December 2022.

Not all televisions will need to be changed or supported by a decoder, and you can already test yours from your couch today. Simply tune in to channels 100 (Rai test channel) or 200 (Mediaset test channel); if you see "Test HEVC Main10", thumbs up, otherwise it will be necessary to "take action."
