TV Accessories: the two things you discover only after installation
The TV is hung straight, and two problems remain. The first is the cables that hang down the wall and ruin all the work done. The second arrives a few weeks later, when the panel gets dirty and you realize that cleaning it is not like cleaning glass: the anti-reflective coatings of modern televisions are permanently ruined by almost all household cleaners.
Selection table
| Problem | Accessory |
|---|---|
| Visible cables along the wall, below the TV | 60 cm modular cable cover column, can be paired with glass shelves |
| Bundle of cables behind the furniture or desk | Spiral cable wrap, 1 meter, 30 mm diameter, black or silver |
| Screen with fingerprints and dust | Cleaning kit with specific solution and microfiber cloth |
| Dust also on frame, sockets and vents | Cleaning kit complete with brush |
| Tablet in a fixed position or information point | Tabletop and wall mount for iPad with security case |
Column or spiral: they don't do the same thing
The cable cover column is a rigid profile that is fixed to the wall below the television: it covers the vertical stretch that is visible, is modular in height, and on some models accepts glass shelves to support decoders and players. It is the aesthetic solution, the one you see in the living room.
The spiral cable wrap works differently: it wraps around the bundle and keeps it together, and is useful where cables remain hidden but tangled — behind the furniture, under the desk, behind a rack. It can be cut to size and can be opened to add a cable at a later time, something a closed trunking does not allow.
Expert advice. Regarding cleaning, it is simple: never use alcohol, never use ammonia, never spray on the panel. The product goes on the cloth, the cloth on the screen, use light movements and the TV turned off — with a black screen, you can see where you are working. Glass cleaners attack the anti-reflective coating and the damage cannot be reversed. Regarding cables, however, the recurring mistake is underestimating the diameter of the bundle: power, HDMI, antenna, and network cable together take up much more space than it seems when the cables are loose. Measure the tightly held bundle in your hand before choosing the diameter.
Frequently asked questions
How do you clean an OLED or LED screen without ruining it?
With a microfiber cloth just moistened with a solution specific for screens, with the television turned off and cool, using light movements and without pressing. No alcohol, no ammonia, no paper towels: paper scratches the anti-reflective coating even if it doesn't seem like it.
Can the cable cover column be cut to size?
It is modular: it adjusts in height by adding or removing modules, without cutting. Before ordering, measure the actual path from the television to the socket and consider the overall diameter of the cable bundle.
Can I run the power cord inside the wall?
The standard power cord cannot: it is not intended for flush-mounted installation. The compliant solution is to bring a socket behind the television and run only the signal cables through the conduit, or cover everything with a wall-mounted column.
How long does a cleaning solution last?
For normal domestic use, a very long time: you need very little at a time because the cloth should be moistened, not soaked. The kits in this section are designed to last for several months of regular cleaning.
