Dimmer switches regulate light intensity and allow us to save on the consumption of all our LED lamps, sconces, and floor lamps, some of which are also compatible with halogen lamps without causing light flickering.
These are small devices that allow us to adjust light intensity to our liking, increasing the comfort of a room.
There are different types depending on their intended use. For example, there are foot-operated dimmers, which can be placed at the base of a floor lamp and used with foot movement without bending down. Then there are push-button dimmers and rotary dimmers for purely manual use. Obviously, technology has evolved so much that, apart from analog solutions, there are completely digital solutions that follow the principles of home automation, thanks to which it is possible to adjust the intensity of your home lamps directly from your smartphone.

Before deciding what type of dimmer to use and therefore purchase, it is important to ensure that the lamps are dimmable. It is also important to remember that not all dimmers work with all lamps; for LED lamps, there are specific ones that may not be suitable for halogen lamps and vice versa.
Another factor to consider is the voltage of the lamps, to understand what kind of load they can support and how the lamps can operate. The load changes depending on whether they are LED or halogen lamps.
This type of dimmer should be used with lamps that do not already have an integrated regulator.
