Zafferano: the rechargeable lamps that set the standard

The Poldina is arguably the most recognizable rechargeable lamp on the market, and Ofelia is its evolution with a softer profile. Zafferano has effectively defined the category: cordless table lamps designed for the catering industry and for curated homes, where you need light on the table without the presence of a cable.

These are decorative lamps, not technical accessories: you choose them also for how they look on the table when switched off.

The three features that matter

Touch dimmable. The intensity is adjusted by touching the lamp, with no visible switches. In a restaurant, this means you can transition from service lighting to evening lighting without touching the electrical system.
IP54. Protection against dust and water splashes: this is the rating that makes these lamps usable outdoors as well, on a patio or terrace, not just indoors. It is not equivalent to immersion nor direct and prolonged exposure to rain.
Charging base. They are placed on the charging base at the end of the shift and are ready the next morning: this is the workflow they were designed for.

Expert advice. If you are buying them for a restaurant, think in sets and not individual pieces: you need a number of lamps equal to the tables plus a rotation margin, because while some are in service, the others must be charging. A common mistake is to buy exactly as many as there are seats and end up mid-evening with some tables in the dark. Also consider the finish in relation to the tablecloth and the tabletop: dark shades disappear on dark tables, while light ones stand out.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a charge last?

It depends on the intensity set: at the minimum setting, the battery life is much longer than at maximum power. They are designed to cover a full evening shift at medium intensity. The specific data is provided on the individual product sheet.

Can they be left outside all night?

The IP54 rating protects them from dust and splashes, so they withstand outdoor use and evening humidity. However, they are not intended to remain exposed to driving rain or to be left permanently outdoors: they should be brought inside at the end of the shift, which is also when they should be charged.

Is the battery replaceable?

In these devices, the battery is integrated. To extend its life, avoid leaving them completely discharged for long periods and place them on the charging base when not in use.

Are they also suitable for the home?

Yes, and it is a very common use: bedside tables without nearby outlets, dining tables, shelves, terraces. The advantage is the same as in the catering industry, which is light where you need it without having to worry about the electrical system.
