Rexer: dimmable halogen globes and solar accessories
The Rexer range covers two very different things. On one hand, dimmable E27 halogen globe bulbs, replacements for chandeliers, pendants, and decorative fixtures where the large globe is part of the aesthetic and the light dimmer is part of the design. On the other, accessories for solar floodlights, particularly the 5-meter extension cable for connecting the panel.
The three power levels in the range
| Power | Equivalent output | Luminous flux |
|---|---|---|
| 42W | 60W | 650 lumens |
| 70W | 100W | 1220 lumens |
| 105W | 150W | 1900 lumens |
All are warm light, E27 base, dimmable. The "equivalent output" indicates the flux of an old incandescent bulb: this is the reference to use to replace it without changing the feel of the light in the room.
Why halogen remains the choice for certain fixtures
On older dimmer circuits, halogen continues to be the solution that works without surprises. Regulators designed for resistive loads require a minimum consumption that low-energy LEDs often do not reach: the result is flickering, humming, or the inability to go below a certain threshold. With halogen, regulation is linear and silent from minimum to maximum.
Pro tip. For the solar floodlight extension cable, measure before ordering: the point where you want the floodlight and the point where the panel gets real sunlight are almost always further apart than they seem, and the supplied cable is short. Also, verify that the extension is from the series corresponding to your floodlight, as connectors vary between models. Regarding halogen globes, check the bulb diameter in relation to the socket and lampshade: globes have different dimensions and on some fixtures, the space is just enough.
Frequently asked questions
Can halogen bulbs still be purchased?
Yes, as end-of-series items and while stocks last. The European Union's ecodesign framework has progressively withdrawn various types of lamps from the market, but the sale of existing stocks remains permitted: they remain legitimate replacements for fixtures currently in use.
What does "100W output" mean on a 70W lamp?
It means it consumes 70W while producing the luminous flux of an old 100W incandescent bulb, thanks to the more efficient halogen cycle. It remains much less efficient than an LED: the advantage is compatibility with the fixture and the dimmer.
Can I replace them with dimmable LEDs?
On recent systems, often yes, provided the bulb is declared dimmable and the dimmer is compatible with LED loads. On older regulators, the replacement must be tested, because the minimum required load may not be met.
Is the solar extension suitable for any floodlight?
No, it must be chosen based on the series and power of the floodlight: connectors and sections vary between models. Check compatibility on the product sheet or ask us for confirmation by specifying your floodlight model.
How should halogen bulbs be handled?
Never touch the glass with bare hands. Skin oils create a hot spot that causes the bulb to fail prematurely. Use a clean cloth or gloves; if you have already touched it, clean it with alcohol before turning it on.
