ProPart: the stuff you need to make everything else work
ProPart isn't a brand of finished products: it's support components. Power supplies for LED strips and video surveillance, HDMI extenders and splitters, rechargeable batteries with USB-C charging, adapters, extension cords, terminal blocks. These are the parts that you don't notice in the quote but without which the installation isn't finished — and they are also the ones people make the most mistakes with, because they are chosen in a hurry at the last moment.
The four families
| Family | What you'll find |
|---|---|
| Power supplies | 12V and 24V metal switching units from 72 to 200W for LED strips, plus IP67 waterproof versions for video surveillance and outdoor use |
| HDMI distribution | Extenders over network cable up to 70m, 4K splitters with downscaler, 5-input switchers with remote control, HDMI 2.1 8K 48 Gbps cable |
| Video adapters | HDMI-DVI Dual Link, micro and mini HDMI, 90° angled adapters, female-to-female couplers |
| Batteries and electrical accessories | USB-C rechargeable AAA, AA, C, D, and 9V, 15m and 25m cord reels, power strips, travel adapters, terminal blocks |
HDMI Extenders: when the cable is no longer enough
Beyond ten meters, a passive HDMI cable begins to lose signal and the connection becomes unstable. The extender solves this by transporting the signal over a network cable: up to 60 meters in 1080p and up to 70 meters in 4K at 60 Hz. It is the solution for bringing an image to another room, another floor, or a display window far from the source point.
Two features to evaluate: POE, which powers the remote unit via the same network cable, avoiding the need to run power to the other side; and loop-out, which replicates the signal on a local output, so you can keep a control monitor near the source.
USB-C rechargeable batteries: constant 1.5V
They are the most practical innovation of recent years for traditional formats. Unlike NiMH batteries, which deliver 1.2V, these maintain 1.5V until fully depleted: they replace alkaline batteries without the drop in performance noticed in mice, keyboards, electronic locks, and toys. They are recharged by connecting a USB-C cable directly to the battery, without a dedicated charger. Available in AAA, AA, C, D, and 9V.
The counter tip. When choosing a power supply for LED strips, people almost always underestimate the power. Multiply the watts per meter by the actual meters and add at least 20%: 10 meters of 15W/m strip equals 150W, so a 150W power supply is already at its limit — a 200W one is better. A power supply that constantly runs at maximum load heats up, ages quickly, and puts the installation at risk. And for outdoor use or in a junction box, do not use an IP20 metal casing inside a box just because "it's closed": there are IP67 waterproof versions specifically for that purpose.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the power supply capacity?
Sum the actual power consumption of everything it needs to power and add a margin of at least 20%. Also, verify that the voltage matches exactly: a 24V strip on a 12V power supply will remain dim, while the opposite will damage it.
Does the HDMI extender work with any network cable?
You need a cable of the appropriate category, made of pure copper, and preferably shielded, with professional-grade terminations. There is little margin for error at the stated maximum distances: a CCA (copper-clad aluminum) cable or an imprecise crimp will cause the connection to drop intermittently.
What is the downscaler on a splitter for?
To make screens of different resolutions work together. Without a downscaler, the source aligns to the least capable device and all screens run at that resolution; with a downscaler, each output receives the format it can handle.
Can USB-C batteries be used everywhere instead of alkaline ones?
In the vast majority of devices, yes, and they actually perform better because the voltage remains constant. The exceptions are devices that detect charge levels based on decreasing voltage: with these batteries, the indicator will remain full until shortly before depletion.
Does the HDMI-DVI adapter carry audio as well?
No, DVI only carries video. If you connect a DVI monitor to an HDMI source, the audio must be routed separately to speakers or an amplifier.
