By now we know, technology has invaded our homes, and most of us have two or more televisions at home. Some find themselves buying a couple on the same day, and therefore having two new televisions of the same generation, while others buy a new TV for one room, keeping the old one in another and therefore having two TVs in the house with different video qualities .
Whether yours is the first or the second case, the fact of finding yourself with several wires to transport the signal that guarantee the right video quality on the various TV devices does not change. The solution to this problem is called splitter with scaler, below we will explain what it is, what it is for and why it is useful and convenient to have it at home. In via Piave, 17 (in Catania) or on our online store, we can recommend the most suitable scaler device for your needs.
What is a splitter
The splitter is a device that "splits", that is, divides the signal of an audio-video source that it receives from the HDMI cable into two or more. It is done in a very simple way: it is a small box, with an HDMI input and two or more HDMI outputs, which will be connected to the various devices with HDMI input.
What is a scaler
A scaler is a device that converts the resolution of video signals to an output resolution that is different in size from the input. Although the output resolution may be higher or lower than the input signal, a scaler is used to improve the quality of the video signals. For example, it can be used to enhance the lower resolution signal from a DVD player while outputting it to a higher resolution television.
Why choose a splitter with scaler function
When we talk about 4K signal sources, we need to pay attention to a typical need: not all televisions are actually 4K, but also Full HD (1080p).
So, connecting a Full HD TV to a 4K source with a normal splitter, the (Full HD) TV would not be able to reproduce the 4K signal.
The scaler function of a splitter therefore serves to transmit the 4K input signal at the highest quality to the TV that supports it and, at the same time, downscale the resolution to 1080p for the Full HD TV by the splitter, this function ensures that both TVs , with different resolutions, have the same signal converted for different needs.
