Are you ready to put your hand to the hands of the clock to go back an hour passing from summer to winter time? The change will take place on the night between Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October and will result in an extra hour of sleep, but also in an hour less light during the day. In short, if we are all more rested, we will return to early darkness by mid-afternoon.
But what does this change consist of?
Solar time is the natural time according to the movement of the Sun. When in summer the change from solar time to summer time occurs, the reason is linked to the fact that in this way we can have a little more light during the afternoon , compared to a little less light in the early morning, after all, how many Italians get up before six compared to those who leave their beds around seven? In winter this advantage is lost, due to the natural shortening of the days, and the return to solar time allows you to have brighter mornings again, in the face of shorter days.
Why the change?
This is a well-established convention that allows you to save a lot of electricity every year in the summer, we are talking about about 650 million kilowatt hours which, making a quick income statement, are equivalent to 100 million euros, which we also save in our bills. The issue of electricity consumption is therefore the one that tip the scales.
What is certain is that the arrival of the natural time, or rather the return of solar time, coincides with the decrease in sunlight during the day and this means that we will artificially illuminate our homes for several hours a day. The advice of us at Oniro View is therefore to verify that all the bulbs are functioning correctly and that the light is suitable to replace the natural one to allow us to live our days in the best way.
The return to summer time is scheduled for next March 27 , with the hands moving forward by an hour, but it could be the last time because the European Union has proposed the abolition of summer time.
Some European countries have already decreed the abolition, but in Italy the famous income statement mentioned above suggests to reiterate this convention that was adopted in our country in 1965.
